Well Day 26 was not great, I didn't get bad news news from the Dr, but it wasn't good news either. My white blood count was still refusing to come up and by now we should have been seeing a change. They said on average people who receive a double cord transplant would see some kind of upswing by now. So they said I just need to hang in there and apparently I'm just a late bloomer, but if it gets to be too much longer, we would have to start talking about a plan b. not the best news I've had.
However.....
Day + 27, my WBC has come up!!!! Finally, my upswing has started and I can stop stressing. I'm currently up to 0.2. I'm super excited and so is my Dr. Though I have to admit I am cautiously excited, I'm really hoping this is my engraftment starting to happen and that number continues to climb. I am having my next bone marrow biopsy tomorrow afternoon, so we should have a clearer picture of what's happening some time next week.
Grow little cells, grow!!!!!
Sometimes, it takes time to turn the corner.
ReplyDeleteWe're pulling for ya!
Three days upswing on the WBC = engraftment. Officially, that is defined as three days with WBC >0.5 in a row.
Hang in there....
Oh, another advantage: once WBC > 0.5 you start to feel measurably better too.
