Quick update

Ok people! I don't ask this from anyone very often, but I'm feeling a little nervous.  I need lots of positive energy, good vibes, prayers, whatever you can give me.  My platelet count has been falling over the last couple weeks, so I'm feeling a bit uneasy since this is how it started last time.  They have said I do not need to worry and they decided today to move my bone marrow biopsy up to tomorrow (instead of the end of the month) just so we can confirm it's just a couple of my medications.  It is likely the drop is from that, but they want to be sure...sooner then later.  It will take about two to three weeks to get all the results back (several tests grouped into three major types coming back at different times).  I will be sure to update as soon as I know that I'm all good.  I will be all good!!!!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!!!  Well I can't say that I'm sorry to see 2015 go.  The year started out great...I was feeling really good, I went back to work, took a trip to Disney World, I had a whole new year to look forward to.  Unfortunately, that great start didn't last very long.  By the end of February I learned that my cancer was back and I was starting another six months of chemo.  October brought on my next hospital stay and my second bone marrow transplant.  The good news though is that this time my transplant didn't fail!  I have a whole new lease on life!  I am very grateful that I was able to spend the last part of the year recovering at home with my family.  I am hopeful that 2016 is a very good, quite year...I could use a little break.  Sometime at the end of January or early February I will have another bone marrow biopsy to see if there is any sign of disease.  In the meantime, I am continuing to do very well.  All of the nurses, practice assistants and doctors at the Cancer Center marvel at how well I'm doing and so quickly.  I figure that must be a good sign (knock on wood)!!

So, as we move into 2016, I'm hoping for / looking forward to a clean biopsy, shedding some of my medications (I currently take more pills in one day than a 90 year old), getting back to work, fewer doctor appointments and getting back to a normal everyday life.

Moving right along!

Well I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and are off to a great start to the holiday season! I am happy to say that I was able to come back home the day before Thanksgiving.  The girls didn't know I was coming, so it was a nice surprise for them when they came home to find me waiting for them.  My recovery is moving along nicely, my doctor is still very pleased with my progress.  I am finally making my own hemoglobin and platelets. My white count and neutrophils (infection fighters) are also steadily rising on their own.  My next biopsy will be sometime at the end of January, which will give us a clearer picture of where my cancer stands.  Of course we are hoping to hear the word "remission" or the phrase "no sign of disease".  In the meantime I will continue on my recovery and getting stronger.

Just hangin

So I've been at my parents house for about a week and a half now.  I'm still in full recovery mode, some days are good and some days I don't want to move.  I think my biggest issue is the nausea, but my doctors and I are working on keeping that under control.  Still hoping to be home for Thanksgiving, I just need to improve a bit more before I can.

Day +20

I'm going home tomorrow, I'm going home tomorrow!!!!  My white count sky rocketed to 2.7 yesterday.  All my doctors are very pleased, and maybe a little surprised, with my quick recovery.  So I will be spending the next couple weeks rehabbing at my moms house and plan to be back in my very own bed just in time for thanksgiving and Victoria's birthday.  Super excited that this all went so well and quicker then anticipated.

Day +16

This ones short and sweet!  My white count was 0.7 today, so we are showing more of an up trend. Totally awesome!  If this continues over the next couple days......I get to go home next week!!!  At least to my moms house anyway, then I'll be able to go home home just a couple weeks after that.  It looks right now that I'll be back in my home, in my bed, and with my family just in time for Thanksgiving,

Come on up trend!!!
