My mom is officially here and taken over as my caretaker...her timing could not have been more perfect, I've needed her more in the last couple days then I would have thought. A great big thank you to my amazing Mother in Law, Linda for being with me everyday for the last two weeks. I am so greatful to have had her with me and giving loads of love support!!
Day +4 was mainly uneventful, felt pretty good overall, except for the dry mouth ( one of the side effects for the chemo and radiation). My hair has officially started falling out, I'm super glad it's just stubble and not long strands of hair...it would have made me crazy.. I did not sleep well last night, but who really does in the hospital. I feel like an insomniac.
Day+5...well today just kind of sucks! The Drs all say I'm doing great, I'm still on target with my blood counts and as far as patients go I'm pretty boring and that's a good thing. I'm just feeling very tired today and the pain in my mouth has only gotten worse. It is increasingly difficult to swallow, eat and even talk. They really can't do anything for me either other then pain meds...I just have to wait for it to pass.
Looking forward to a better day tomorrow!
Stay with it kid. What you're doing is tough.
ReplyDeleteJuices are your friend. The mouth pain is difficult, but stay hydrated.
For nausea, they will likely try a garden variety of stuff for you. Ativan worked best for me. They also gave me marinol because I wasn't eating. Perhaps you'll be better.
If you are having trouble sleeping, have them given you something for that (e.g. temazapam) as your body does need rest and lots of it. Ask the nurses. they wake you up all night (as you know) checking your vitals anyway....
Anyway, I'm part of your cheering section.
Stick with it.
We're all cheering for you!!!
ReplyDeleteSo very happy that Rubye is there to help with your care. There's nothing like the care of a mother and boy your mother is super at that. I understand this past week was very rough, but I suppose it's part of what has to take place for you to get better. Praying that the turning point comes soon and that each day is better.
